New face of Witney scheme: Travelodge and Costa Coffee drive-thru

As one of the country’s most popular value hotel brands, Travelodge has been keen to secure a presence in Witney for some considerable time. They have forged a successful track record with Hinton Group, who specialise in delivering high-quality commercial developments across the UK.

Following the submission of a planning application in September 2017 for a 72-bedroom hotel and Costa Coffee drive-thru, Hinton Group has had extensive dialogue with planning officers at West Oxfordshire District Council and has responded positively with significant amendments to the proposals. These amendments have reduced the building from four storeys to two, resulting in a reduction in bedrooms from 72 to 37.

James Hinton, Managing Director of Hinton Group added, ”Hinton Group and Travelodge have a history of creating high quality schemes and we hope to continue our successful partnership in Witney, by meeting the demand for budget hotel accommodation in the area.

“Following extensive dialogue with planning officers, significant changes have been made to the proposals, which we hope will allow for the positive consideration of the planning application in due course.”

The site is in a sustainable location, with bus stops immediately outside providing regular services to Witney, Abingdon and Carterton. It is also well served by footpaths and the local cycle path network, which provide good links to the town centre.
