Construction starts on new Lidl store & Starbucks drive-thru in Cheltenham

Demolition of the former BMW car dealership on Tewkesbury Road in Cheltenham has started to pave the way for construction of a new Lidl supermarket and a Starbucks drive-thru, following permission by planning officers at Cheltenham Borough Council being granted in August.

Lidl UK’s Regional Head of Property, Glen Stidever, commented: “There’s been much anticipation for this new Lidl store and it’s great that our partners Hinton Group are now in a position to commence the demolition after a successful planning application. We are extremely grateful for all the support that we have received so far, and would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding whilst we enter this next phase of the development.”

The new development is expected to open by the end of 2018 and will create up to 50 new jobs when opened.
